"Quick" breads, meaning using NO YEAST in them,

which cuts out all those rising times, kneading, etc.

 

This topic explains how to incorporate jams, freeze dried fruits & vegetables into breads, and etc.

A variety of recipes are provided to give ideas in doing this.

 

Being Self-Reliant

means also being able to 'THINK IN A DIFFERENT WAY',

by using what is available and creating different ways of eating that particular item.

 

The "SUBBING" topic will cover this as well.

Many women during the World Wars only had certain items available to them. They had to learn how to modify their favorite recipes, using "what they had on hand"!

For instance, not just "eating" beans, but mashing them and using them in breads, to sub for oil, and grinding them to use as thickeners and for making the equivalent of a cream of condensed soup can.

 

BREADS will give us that FULL FEELING --

WE NEED TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH "THINKING" IN THIS MANNER;

thinking "outside the box",

and how to use our breads incorporating different things,

thereby preparing for a day

when certain luxuries enjoyed now may not be available.
